EXHIBITION NEWS. ‘THROUGH MUD AND SUNSHINE’ an Exhibition of Photographs by JANE WRIGHT
June 11, 2016 - July 16, 2016
New work: Industrial dereliction and abstracts. I've been to Sheffield again!…..and again……
I found a new and exciting subject of 'bricks'. In fact I drove all the way to Sheffield one day, just to see my favourite brick. These are as I found them, no colour changing or anything. It’s all been created by the paint of the Sheffield graffiti artists, combined with the decayed surface of the bricks. I’ve also photographed some sayings written by artists. I get fed up of seeing “Live, Laugh, Love” everywhere. It’s part of my subject “Say Something Different”. Whilst in Sheffield I visited the famous Park Hill flats. Some have been renovated and have bright coloured faces, others remain in their derelict state. I had expected to feel an air of intimidation there, but I found it one of the most peaceful places, very atmospheric, almost ghostly. Other locations: The wireworks factory at Ambergate, North Yorkshire, and the local parks in Lincoln.
EXHIBITION RUNS: 11TH JUNE TO 16TH JULY 2016.
MEET THE ARTIST SATURDAY 11TH JUNE NOON TIL 4PM

i hope visitors will enjoy the contrast in media and feel uplifted by the colours as I did on seeing them in nature'.
May 02, 2015 - June 06, 2015
We are delighted to be hosting a joint exhibition showing the wonderful textiles created by Pam Pickering and the beautiful paintings by John Pickering in the Upper Gallery at Harding House. Imagined Realities runs until the 6th June.
'My soft sculpture manikins are unique and during the making process each one develops its own personality, attitude and humour. Passionate about stitch and texture, I make all the base fabrics using hand printed cloth. Surface decoration varies between free machine drawing, found objects, wrapped wires and layered threads." Pam Pickering
"John Pickering works entirely in waterbased media on paper, with a powerful and graphic style, often experimentally combining watercolour washes with passages of heavy gouache - the transparent against opaque. He tries to encapsulate the mark-making often found, to unique effect. ' My paintings move between the truly representational and the semi abstract, but always with a basis of sound draughtsmanship. They often explore the interplay between light and shadow, with my latest work developing a more stylised and decorative feel.' John Pickering
Transparency - Glass Extraordinaire
March 21, 2015 - April 25, 2015
We are Delighted to be showing the work of three contemporary glass artists, Nicholas Collins, Jonathan Rogers and Lawrence West.
Nicholas Collins - Has a long standing fascination with optical art, minimal designs that hold the viewers attention through simple colour, pattern and form. His aim is to create functional pieces that play with the viewer. He produces designs in very limited quantities as editions, quality crafted pieces using kiln forming glass techniques.
"My philosophy is to produce exceptionally designed pieces creating objects that bring together both function and visual appeal with a permanent value."
Jonathan Rogers - Makes contemporary hand blown glass using traditional blowing and finishing techniques. Much of his work features multiple overlays of colour and clear glass, which are revealed through the cold working process. Techniques such as cutting, grinding and sandblasting add refinement with a clear finish, as well as combining the use of texture. Although the process of crafting each piece is often highly complex, the end results often appear effortlessly stunning.
Lawrence West - Combines processes and skills that utilise not only hot glass but also warm and cold glass techniques using Plymouth, Devon as his base.
"My aim is to create bespoke and contemporary glass designs for interior and exterior spaces to be admired and brighten our lives. I am highly influenced by the early studio glass pioneers; my practice is a result of their achievements combined with my passion for creating unique objects."
